Hello! So I had my double styloidectomy surgery back at the beginning of this year in April. Everything is going well, but I still have numbness in random spots under my chin and it seems swollen up like a squishy balloon. I was just wondering if anyone else has dealt with this issue or not, cause the double chin its giving me is a pain lol.
@Trinity_768_00 - Frustrating that you still have some fluid retention from your surgery! Have you talked to the surgeon who did your surgery about this? It sounds like you might need a follow-up scan of some sort to see what’s going on.
Another option is to look up lymphatic drainage massage on YouTube & try doing some self massage in the area to help your body let go of the fluid. We have a number of members who did lymphatic drainage massage on themselves as they were recovering from surgery, & it did help reduce their post op swelling.
Last suggestion would be to find a myofascial therapist who would do manual work on your neck - probably similar to lymphatic drainage massage which could be helpful in getting that swollen area to reduce to more normal size.
Thank you so much! That definitely sounds like what ive been dealing with.
A couple of members - thanks @premedmom & @TheDude - have posted info about helpful massage techniques for lymphatic drainage , these might be useful:

The numb spots are quite normal & might never go- I have some around my ears, surgery was 9 years ago, better than pain though…
Thank you for the links!
