Hello, I have spent the past five years really suffering. My symptoms are weird. Constant globus, difficulty swallowing, and tension when speaking. Sometimes I feel light headed and have palpitations when I speak or swallow or turn my head. I’m pretty miserable. My friend who is a surgeon did a CT on my neck because no one would listen or give me the time of day. Once anxiety got put in my chart I think I got written off. He found both solids severely calcified. I’m now seeing a head and neck surgeon who feels my symptoms don’t correspond to eagles well. Any thoughts? I’m really tired of this.

I’m so glad that you have a surgeon friend who listened to you! Absolutely your symptoms align with ES ones, but unfortunately we see so often doctors who have a ‘favourite’ symptom which they believe all ES patients must have, & that any other symptoms can’t be cause by it, and it sounds like your head & neck surgeon is in that camp!
The globus sensation & difficulty swallowing are the most common & well known symptoms, and worsening symptoms with talking, swallowing & turning your head are very common too… Feeling light headed does sound like a vascular symptom, palpitations too, and they could also be a symptom of vagus nerve compression, which is also very common with ES, but not necessarily recognised by doctors…

You can have a search in the past discussions for mentions of the different doctors in your state, otherwise if you’re able to travel, Dr Hackman in NC is very experienced & has done lots of successful surgeries.
I hope that you’re able to get some help; with calcified/ elongated styloids and very common ES symptoms it’s certainly likely that they’re to blame!
