@boogs99 Did you have complete relief of your pain with styloid removal surgery?
You have been on such a tortuous journey @1speechpick! How exciting that it is finally culminating & you have solid answers & a positive direction in which to proceed. In spite of the riskiness of MVD surgery, it does sound like your best first choice as taking pressure off those nerves could really be a turning point for you health-wise. The discomfort from the HBS will likely feel minor in comparison once the nerves have been decompressed.
I’m really happy for you. You did your homework & it has paid off! Please continue to post your journey here as you have time. I think it may be really helpful for others to read.
@1speechpick I had it removed on Friday. There hasn’t been any change in symptoms yet.
Keep us updated with how you get on choosing a neurosurgeon won’t you? Even if it isn’t ES we’d still like to hear your progress
I sure do hope and pray that you have some positive changes from the surgery!!! It sounds like you had a pretty long styloid.
Thank you. I’m doing several consultations.
Hey @boogs99! Fear not! It can take some months for real healing progress to be noticed especially w/ vascular compression as the vein/artery can take some time to re-open, plus, your post op swelling will continue to compress where the styloid once did. You’ll likely have some good forward progress as your inflammation decreases. Keep icing (unless it makes things worse, in which case switch to heat. Moist heat may work better than dry heat).
