**If this can help someone:** I’ve noticed that in international lists of surgeons who treat Eagle syndrome, some Italian names are still included, and I have also been asked on other forums about Italian surgeons for Eagle syndrome.
I would like to say, to avoid someone making a useless trip, that this is currently a bad period to try to get consultations with Eagle syndrome surgeons in Italy.
The main Italian reference, **Dr. Vicini**, has been retired for a long time, and since he no longer has a full surgical team, he now operates **only very simple cases**, not cases of **vascular Eagle syndrome** or **atlanto-styloid syndrome**.
Another well-known reference in **Messina** is currently facing internal issues within the surgical team and is **no longer accepting consultations**.
Other, less specialized surgeons in Italy generally operate **only classic Eagle syndrome**, not complex or vascular cases.
I can also clarify that **no case of atlanto-styloid syndrome has ever been surgically treated in Italy**, because Italian doctors consider **C1 shaving** to be a **high-risk surgical procedure**.
At present, **Professor Vicini** is trying to reform a medical team together with neurosurgeons, to operate atlanto styloid syndrome case, but this will take time.
