Vascular eagle syndrome

Hi guys

I am a 25 year old male, medschool graduate from India
Very much greatfull for this forum
I was diagnosed with severe left IJV compression on this Monday
I did an atlas orthogonal adjustment and 3d imaging, but i am not finding relief and having neck pain after that
The definitive management would be styloidectomy
I have uploaded the images of my scan
Hoping that the members will have a look and share their thoughts
Still looking whether I would need just styloidectomy or with C1 shaving

Obviously we’re not doctors on here, can just give you pointers to ask your doctors about…
The compression of the left IJV can be seen, as your report says, but unfortunately it’s not obvious whether it’s just the styloid compressing it or the C1 process as well…both styloids look pretty long, so not surprising that you’re having pain!
It looks like there’s a bit of calcified stylo-hyoid at the hyoid end, and also looking at the 3rd image, it looks like your hyoid bone is quite wonky, which could possible cause pain or difficulty swallowing, or clicking noises, do you have any issues with that?
Also your neck looks like it’s lost it’s natural curve- military neck- which we see alot on here; restoring that curve with stretches can sometimes ease the jugular compression a bit, but if you possibly have CCI then it might be an idea to get advice about that first. We’ve had lots of discussions about military neck, there’s some info in this discussion if you’re interested:

Are you hoping to have treatment in India, or are you able to travel to the US again?

You might have a stenosis in the left transverse sinus also.

Your styloids are an interesting shape & very pointed so I can see why they’d be causing you problems, @Mastiff. I’ve annotated a couple of your images & included notation that it looks, in one image, like your styloids could be encroaching on your ICA (internal carotid artery on the right) & ECA (exerternal c. a.) on the left in spite of what your report says. It may just be the angle of the imaging that makes it look like the styloids are very close to the carotids. I also noted what @Rex pointed out, your left transverse sinus looks incomplete when I zoom in, so it’s either very stenosed or incomplete.

As @Jules noted, the loss of the lordotic curve in your cervical spine can make symptoms worse as that situation places the styloids closer to vascular & nerve tissues.

I hope you’re able to have surgery in the US. I’ve sent you the names & contact information for the doctors we recommend for ES w/ IJV compression.
