Brain fog and creatine

Hello all
I have recently had a huge improvement with brain fog and cognitive fatigue

My experience:

As I a wait another surgical intervention, and have increased symptoms of headache pressure , blurry vision crazy tinnitus and cognitive fatigue and confusion , emotional lows and poor communication from my doctors,
I had a major increase in stress at work, customer wants their car back or else.
Gave me two weeks to finish, then another week then another testing my resilience over and over every week this is it or else.
I was at a breaking point , I am going as fast as I can already and hit major symptoms states when working on cars, do to positional comprehension that make all symptoms worse and cut my days short and then need more days of rest before I can continue.
At some point I can deal with headaches and tinnitus but the blurry vision is hard to work and if I push further I get some sort of fractals in vision, like looking in a kaleidoscope,

I had come across an article some were taking about creatine and how it can help the brain with providing atp energy .
In some regards I had come across this before but did not look further until recently

I started to take 5 grams of creatine in the mornings and did not really notice anything at first week or the second or the third … I was working 7 days a week in high stress working 5-6 hours sometime longer,
I would come home and make jokes and be silly,
My wife noticed, my family network noticed something different but was unaware of the new supplement
By the end of the third week reaching my dead line I all of a sudden had realized that the constant pain at the right side skull base was gone ? Wtf also I was not having crazy headaches at work, my tinnitus was quite during the day , I was problem solving during high stress and not freezing up or just going home and hiding from my duty’s,
What the heck was going on
I ram out of plavix and thought great I’ll just keep up the creatine and stop the plavix
Maybe I am healing up finally???
Nope with in a few days of not taking plavix I had once again major head ache problems and major base of skull pain, pulsatile tinnitus, regular tinnitus and etc.
becoming unbearable again
Reached out to Hui for more meds, plavix.
Took about another week to feel better and ease the symptoms but I was now aware of how this all affects me for the good.

Before the creatine, i was working about 3 hours a day and would get fatigued constantly, confused when problem solving, brain fatigue when talking during conversations, physically fatigued and often end my 3 hour work day with blurry vision, double vision, raging tinnitus and headaches,
I also have difficulty speaking fluently (since the car accident), during conversations I speak like a robot and very monatone, and then suddenly will speak with an emotional overtone ( with force and emphasis on certain words but not others) ,word finding issues and almost stutter like at times, with now a couple of “f-bombs” while trying to get a word out, like saying fuc_ three times befor my real word come out, very embarrassing
Very strange and spasmodic in nature
But somewhat unpredictable . This usually keeps my conversations short as I am very embarrassed by this and try to keep it hidden in public
It does however happen continuously during the day even worse when stressed.
My wife had mentioned that I am having less speaking issues as well? Since taking the creatine,But I still do have episodes

Ok so now that I have talked with family about the new supplement and we are discussing the changes noticed
I am amazed at the reduction of symptoms .
I can’t explain how so many symptoms are effected by this
Somehow my tolerance for stress is increased as well, and I am more calm when dealing with stress rather that agitated?

I read about the whole atp cellular energy and how a struggling brain may use this energy to supplement its “energy deficiency”,how this relates to fatigue and cognitive resilience.
I love it omg

I am doing more research at this time and just have to share what this has done for me as an individual

I Drink 2-3 liters of water a day, while taking creatine is what was suggested to me,
And some times I drink up to 3-4 liters a day when sweating at work () to avoid being dehydrated and flushing the kidneys to avoid build up of creatinine (the waste product)
Dehydration also has negative affects on brain and body in many ways as I am reading about, so this may also be helping over all

I did not do a loading phase as some people do, and only just started with the 5 grams daily program
I read that it is accumulative in our body and that not just a one time dose will do anything, “so doing it daily for a month should build up the body stores”

I would love to hear if anyone else has tryed creatine and at what doses and effects ?

I just hope that I can continue to see benefits from it without a negative
So the research continues

Lmk what you folks think?
I really appreciate everyone’s input
I am only just a patient and not a doctor
Learning all I can about how to deal with this situation and wish with all my heart that this may help someone else get threw the day and ease some of the discomfort

Love u all
Thanks for listening

It’s really great news that the Creatine has helped you so much in combo with the Plavix @mekanX.

As I mentioned in another thread, I also take Creatine - 5 mg/day. My functional med doctor recommend it a few years ago when I was having short term memory loss issues & it has seemed to help. I also take a supplement called Neuroflam (K-46) by Apex Energetics Nutritional Complexes). Between these 2 things I’m doing better. I was supposed to take the Creatine in two 2.5 mg doses to spread it out over the day, but I kept forgetting to take the second dose so I just take it all at once.

To anyone who may be interested in trying either of these supplements, PLEASE DISCUSS THEM WITH YOUR DOCTOR FIRST. Drug interactions can occur even with supplements that seem pretty benign.

Ok well good to know i am not the only one using it.
That’s good to hear you have a doctor working with you on what supplements to take
Neroflam looks pretty interesting and I have started to do some research into it and the components with in.

Can you tell a difference when taking it ? Or since you started it ?
Also did you start out with a loading phase of 20 grams per day for 5 days then do the 5 grams after that ?
Have you been using it for years?
Are you still / have you been taking blood meds like plavix?

I had not wanted to load up at first, and I had just started the 5 grams a day .
Since I have gotten such a good response from use ,In the last couple of weeks I have tryed to up the dose to about 10 grams a day, and found out that for me if I take it after lunch I have a great second have if the day and into the evening as well with increased focus and alertness ,
This seams to work well for me and I am happy with the gains so far
Although when I take the second dose later in the day (about two or so) that it tends to keep me up at knight and I can’t sleep
Some days I take 10 and others I am good with the 5

For me this has shown to be complicated because with the increase of clarity and cognition I want to do more and have done so, but physically my body is not used to the increase in out put ,
I think this will take time to build up the strength to perform more, however i seam to continue to aggravate my clavicle area of compression and have some setbacks associated with the increased movement
Lol

I am glad it has been working for you as well
I’ll keep posting my experience with this for a while and see what happens

Thanks @Jules , will look for some links to study’s in the cognitive area and use to post up next

I do notice a difference when I take the Creatine & Neuroflam. I think Neuroflam alone was somewhat helpful and adding Creatine has helped more, but I haven’t noticed the level of positive change that you have. That may be because the basis of our memory/brainfog problems differs. I believe mine comes somewhat from IJV compression which was successfully treated, a couple of traumatic brain injuries (from cycling accidents), and from age.

I started the Creatine at 2.5 g, 2x/day but as previously noted, kept forgetting to take the second dose so just take 5g once a day in the morning mixed w/ Dandy Blend (instead of coffee) in about 24 oz warm water. It can take me several hours to drink it all down. I have been using it for 3-4 yrs, and I am not taking a blood thinner. Dr. Hepworth just started me on 400 mg Pentoxyfilline 2x/day to try to help reduce my tinnitus. In theory, Pentoxyfilline makes the blood more slippery but not thinner.

I totally understand how this works!! It’s really tough not to overdo when you feel good & alert. One activity just rolls into another!

I hope the Creatine continues to be helpful for you. I’ll look forward to your future posts regarding whether it continues to be a benefit.

Thanks so much for your response, you always seam so well put together and hem I see your responses , love it and I am glad that you have found some things to help as well

I think the real big gain for me as been the increase of 5 grams twice a day to ten grams a day
Morning about 6 with 5grams and after lunch another 5.
It was really astonished by the difference.

I do understand that everyone has an individual response to this supplement and I am just reporting my personal case
But my life and day to day has changed for the better

I Know this is only a bandaid to the problem but, thank god I have found something to get me through some of these difficulties

Thanks Wendy, and all my eagles family
Love u all
