So, I finally got an order for a CT but I don’t think it’s 3D. Will a regular CT still show an elongated styloid if if I tell them specifically to be looking for that?

HOORAY for having your CT ordered, @Dlm1969!! That’s a big step in the right direction.
A CT scan is done in very thin slices, & the styloids can be followed from slice to slice for a doctor to roughly measure how long the styloids are. If it’s done w/ contrast then vascular compression can also be seen in the slices.
You can request to be provided with some 3D images (your doctor may need to request this) in your CT results. Seeing your imaging in 3D makes it easier for you to see what’s going on in your neck, too.
Was your CT scan requested w/ contrast or without? If without, ask your doctor to please revise the order to include contrast as that allows your veins & arteries to be visible, too.
Never leave the radiology office w/o asking for a CD w/ your CT images on it. That way you can convert the images to 3D, or have someone help you, using radiantviewer.com for PCs or Bee Dicom Viewer App for Macs.
