I have a question regarding scar tissue. I am susceptible to scar tissue and I am trying to minimize the chance of too much forming post surgery. Does anyone know what methods Dr. Costantino and Dr. Tobias use to reduce scar tissue?
Another member mentioned the following: “Dr. Hepworth uses medical grade sheep tissue as a scar tissue deterrent around the IJV once he decompresses it. Supposedly, it acts sort of like a teflon barrier in that it provides a slicker surface which doesn’t allow scar tissue to adhere.”
Is there a similar process that I could have done with Dr. C and Dr. T?

This is something you’d need to talk to Dr. Costantino about. I don’t recall anyone mentioning other doctors using the medical grade sheep tissue during surgery but that doesn’t mean it isn’t used.
Something you can do for yourself post op to help reduce scar tissue is to start gently massaging your incision area w/ your fingertips about a month post op. Doing this persistently w/ lubricated finger tips (to prevent friction), can help w/ scar reduction. Myofascial massage can also help & some people have had cold laser therapy which was helpful. With the cold laser therapy, it’s important to keep the laser away from the thyroid so seeing an experienced practitioner is helpful.
