EKG and x-ray

Hello all :hugs:

I am scheduled for my surgery next week. The hospital contacted me today to inform I will have an EKG, x-ray of the chest, and blood work.

I am a 57 year old woman with no heart issue history as of today. I am not a smoker nor a drinker. I am not overweight, I always had a healthy lifestyle.

Was it the case for other participants to have those tests?

Thanks :folded_hands:

Audrey

I had blood tests, BP checked, that was all, but then I’m UK so it’s likely to be different. It could be an age thing , or could be that because of the time of year with lots of flu etc about they want to check your chest? It’s good they’re being careful before your surgery though.

Thanks @Jules for your response!

I am Canadian and the surgery is in the USA, I may not be used to their surgery protocol.

I am 57, the last time I had surgery I was 17 for appendectomy. Medicine has evolved since my younger days

Take care!!

@Hamela - For my most recent ES surgery I was supposed to have a blood test, physical exam, EKG & chest x-ray. I was able to dismiss the chest x-ray because, like you, I’m healthy & felt I didn’t need it, & physical because I’d already had one earlier that year, but I did have the EKG & blood test.

I have two surgery dates on hold with two separate doctors and both require a chest X-ray, EKG, and bloodwork. I think it’s pretty standard for surgery just to make sure you don’t have some easily discernible risk that could cause a problem during surgery. For what it’s worth, I am a healthy male in my 30s with perfect health stats other than the Eagle’s Syndrome. No smoking or drinking here either. They are just doing due diligence. Nothing to worry about!
