Images from CBCT scan

Here are some photos of my scans - I took pictures because we weren’t sure how to send the actual scans to me due to the size. As you can see, the culprit to my troubles is clear as day  these scans were taken as part of my TMJ treatment. Would appreciate any thoughts/insights  i have sent a message to Dr. Osborne, happy to get going on the process. Thank you!

@Jem - YUP! That’s a long one! I see you also have some stylohyoid ligament calcification on the left. If it’s totally asymptomatic, it’s fine to leave it alone, but if you have any symptoms on the left, it would be wise to consider having that removed as it is likely to increase in thickness & length over time.

Good that you’re getting close to sorting that annoying poking in your throat! I hope that Dr Osborne is helpful!

Thank you for pointing out the left! I thought that’s what I was seeing. And thank you for labeling!!

I am actually wondering about something that I went through on my left side, my left eye actuall, and I’m curious if you have any thoughts:

It began with a terrible, stabbing headache in between eyebrow and nose area on my left side, and stabbing pain in L temporalis area. Then, I started to notice slight bloodshot eye just on L side. Then, swollen eyelid. And then, I woke up one day with a burst capillary. That get my butt to the eye doctor after about a week with the headaches. The “headaches” were stabbing in those two areas, as well as it felt like I had been punched in the eye, so pain around the wye socket and inner nose. Moving my eye around triggered more pain, it felt nervey. My eye doctor said my optic nerve wasn’t inflamed, and she wasn’t concerned about what she was seeing internally. The pain went on for about 6 weeks, the headaches pretty constant. I still have a little pain around my eye from time to time.

Ive read through the post with the symptoms and it got my wheels spinning a little. The doctor was a little stumped, it was like a blend of episcleritis and scleritis, but wasn’t a clear cut presentation of either.

It got really bad after I had some dental work done and had my mouth open for a long time. It didn’t feel like a total coincidence to me! So, I guess I I’m just curious about this - and curious if it rings any bells? of course not looking for a dx, just curious if you see any correlation based on what you’ve seen so far. Thank you so much for your time and anyone else who wants to chime in!

I had the feeling of intense pressure behind my left eye like my eyeball was trying to being pushed out of the socket as one of my symptoms & attributed it to the trigeminal nerve. Based on the fact that your eye symptoms onset after a dental procedure, I suspect your eye symptoms might also have been caused by your trigeminal nerve being irritated by dental work. It can take nerves some time to settle down once they get upset thus 6 weeks isn’t an inordinate amount of time for you to have had symptoms. The trigeminal nerve can also cause the stabbing pain you experienced between your eyebrows, nose & temporalis areas. I had pain in my nose from my TN.

I can’t explain the capillary bursting, but it could have been in response to your TN being very annoyed & causing some internal inflammation.

Here’s a picture of where the TN exists in your face to help you better understand why you can get pain in particular areas when it’s unhappy. The facial nerve can also cause facial pain.

Remember that these nerves are on both sides of the face & the layout will be slightly different in each one of us.

I agree that it sounds like the Trigeminal nerve, I have pain in that area too… It could be that your eyes have got a bit dry- have you had this checked? Mine are very dry & I have occasionally had them get inflamed and burst blood vessels too. I think from what I’ve read that the trigeminal nerve has some nerve function with the lacrimal glands in the eye, which keep it moist, and as this nerve is commonly affected with ES, I thought there was a link with the dry eyes personally…

Thank you for this! I just had a feeling they were connected. That was a very painful time and I hope it never happens again! I appreciate you sharing your thoughts.
