Looking for anyone to tell me how their experience was with Dr. James K. Liu please. I will be getting a C1 shaving and styloidectomy for IJV compression and I just want to make sure I’m going with a good doctor. Thanks
Here are links to a couple of posts on our forum that mention Dr. Liu -
We’ve only been made aware of him fairly recently, so not many members have seen him…
@Emmaann is seeing him next week so you could see how she finds him, here’s a link to her post:
I officially have my appointment with Dr. James Liu - General - Living with Eagle
If possible we do suggest that members get a second opinion, but appreciate cost, travelling and waiting times can be an issue, you could always look at getting a second opinion from Dr Costantino in NY as well?
You’re in good hands. He did my surgery. If you want to chat let me know.
@Gaby if you don’t mind me asking - did you need to get a cerebral angio with manometry before your surgery with Dr Lui? He didn’t seem impressed with my styloid length even though I think they’re pretty long. I haven’t had my post procedure follow up yet- but it looks like I have positional compression and gradiants on both sides. I’m hoping he gives me the surgery - so nervous. Just wondering if you had compression right away, no compression or went through this test?
Hopefully Dr Lui will be aware that it’s not just the length of styloid processes which can cause compression, but the thickness and angle are important too- especially with IJV compression, as the styloids are commonly compressed close to the skull base (and this is from Dr Costantino’s video), so length doesn’t matter.
