Mastoid Styloid Process

Hello,

So sorry to bombard you with silly questions.

I tried to read my full radiologist report and there is something I don’t understand. It says, and I summarize in my own words:

“The upper ventral portion of the internal jugular vein is compressed by the Mastoid Styloid Process”.

Does anyone have that Mastoid Styloid Process?

Thanks again

Audrey

The mastoid process is the bulge bit behind the styloid process, the styloid process is separate and so I’m not sure exactly what the radiologist is talking about, I think you have to presume it’s probably compression of the IJV by the styloid…

Thanks for the explanation and diagram

It looks like my bones are against my IJV.

Take care!!

@Hamela - There is also two styloid processes in each wrist which is why your report specified mastoid styloid process(es) as that indicates it’s the skull based styloids not those in the wrists.
