MRI images

So sorry that you’re feeling so ill, I did have some scary symptoms before I had surgery so I can sympathise with you…I wish there was something we could do to help but this health care system is just so crazy right now…maybe ask if Mr Timothy has a cancellation list you could be put on in case you can get in any earlier?
Sending you a gentle hug & praying that you get in earlier :hugs:

Hi @kel34ban,

All the axial images you shared are below the skull base. If you have become deaf as a result of whatever happened then something has cut off your hearing higher up inside the skull. Your auditory nerves are located inside your skull. I will show you an outline of mine in the image below.

If this happened all of a sudden and it is due to a vascular issue, something has impinged or collapsed in or right before the sigmoid sinus area, which is next to your auditory structures. This would be the area of major veins before they come out of your skull and then go into the internal jugular vein.

The vein I highlighted is below the skull base on the right side in normal orientation. Either the scan you had reversed left and right, which some MRI facilities do for ease of reading. Or you have had a major collapse or impingement of your vein on the left side higher up in your skull and this right side vein is now compensating and has to do the majority of the drainage (I think this is what we are seeing, but without access to the full scan I cannot tell).

Please ask them to give you a CD when you leave so you can upload the MRV for us to see. The scan you have does not highlight blood flow, so it is much harder to distinguish the blood vessels. My guess is however, once the radiologist views that MRV scan they are going to see what issue is very quickly. So you are on the right path.

In the US the wait time is similar unfortunately even for those that in dire situations unfortunately. I and everyone on this forum sympathize with you. Please rest and take it easy. Hopefully the answers will come soon.

@kel34ban - Thank goodness for your 4 children! I am praying the cause of your symptoms is properly diagnosed by your MRV & that Dr. Timothy can clearly see the cause & offers treatment options.

Thank you and that makes sense as all my symptoms are left. It’s scary as I feel it right up to my eye. Can’t believe it hasn’t been reported as I’ve had a few MRIs this year😩 I can’t upload my scans using the link but I’ll definitely ask for a copy of the MRV. I think I have a few different issues going on here and just hope I can be fixed so I can be upright and work again.

Have a lovely Christmas

Have you tried dragging & dropping your images into the text box for your post? Sometimes that works when our system is being stubborn & not letting images come through. I just checked & your account is set so that you should be able to upload links. I’m sorry our system is giving you trouble.

it might be the way they are saved on my computer. I can view them on weises I think it’s callled.

I’ll have another look later

Thank you for your help!!

Yes thank you for your help

Hi, I’d suggest you ask your GP to urgently refer you to Queens Sq London on NHS for suspected iHH. They have expertise there that should be able to help you for free. My contact there is Lawrence Watkins (heads hydrocephalus NHS team) & private consult is £150. There is another doctor too with good reviews at Queens Sq. I can try to find his name if helps.

If need ENT help your GP can also urgently refer you to Royal national ENT & Eastman Dental Hospital in London. Mr Hughes has his NHS practice here.

I can’t promise NHS will be fast but sooner you start the better so you get on wait lists.

Hoping you get help soon for your & your childrens sake. Take care. D

Thank you for this. However my gp is useless and no doubt thinks I’m crazy like the a&e drs. I’m under ent since I developed sudden sensorineural hearing loss in my left ear a few weeks ago and have a follow up on 4/1/24. Ent weren’t much help and said they are only reviewing the hearing loss. No one takes a full history and looks at the picture as a whole.

I keep making private appointments due to desperation but am having to wait for dr Timothy until March  I am in a real bad way and it is very scary how I’ve been dismissed.

Should I book a private appointment with the dr you mentioned and hopefully he can refer me from there?

I suspected I must have had high pressure at some point as I leak from my nose. I get relief from the headaches when lying down but my vascular type symptoms are not good at all.

Thank you everyone for your advice but you know how hard it is to get the medical professionals to listen when they are reading the previous consultation stating you have mental health issues and too much medical knowledge

Sure wish I could help in some more substantial way than just by typing words. The health systems in the UK & Canada have caused so much frustration & discouragement for our members in those countries. I wish they were as helpful as they should be.

Hi @kel34ban,

I reviewed the images and I think this abnormal area (highlighted in green) next to your Confluence of Sinuses needs to be cleared by a radiologist first. I have not seen something like this before and cannot say for certain what it is, but it may be the cause for both the vascular issues and increased CSF pressure.

My theory is that a mass has formed and blocked your right transverse sinus. Which appears to be your dominant sinus. Thus it has pushed the majority blood flow on to your left side in your head.

If this is the case, unfortunately this it out of the scope for an ENT and you will need an interventional neurosurgeon to perform surgery in this area.

I can’t personally vouch for this radiologist, but from searching online this is the type of radiologist you need to review your scans - Dr Mo Faris, Consultant Interventional Radiologist, ESHT

When is the MRV scheduled? Contact Dr. Faris’ office and see if you can get the MRV scheduled through them and have him read the scan.

Hi

How do you know all of this? and thank you for taking the time out of your day for a stranger.

I’d started looking at my MRIs and comparing to ones online because I know something is very wrong. I thought it was jugular vein compression and a csf leak.

I’ve messaged Nuffield hospital in Leeds to request a review with an interventional radiologist but not sure if they will review scans they did not do.

Is this something dr Timothy could help with? My appointment isn’t until March but I’m due to have a ctv soon organised by him and I could forward what you have sent to see if he could review me sooner.

Thank you

Kelly

@kel34ban - Contacting Dr. Timothy’s office to see if he would refer you to an interventional radiologist to review your scan might be a good next step. You could say you’ve noted that an irregularity shows up in some of the slices/images & that you’d like a second opinion from an interventional radiologist.

Oh Kelly, poor you, I can understand you so so well…! I have IJV compression, and most of the symptoms you describe are the same with me… Except for hearing loss and the CSF symptoms…Was also very desperate at times, thinking of euthanasia… And quite similar story with doctors’ attitude, not being able to function or socialise cause of severe fatigue… and with money issues…
Good news is that dementia symtoms do disappear after the surgery: this is what I have been told each time I asked people on FB who got the surgery on IJV compression. Yesterday someone wrote to me “I got 10 times smarter”))
And severe fatigue does dissappear.

I wish you from my heart, that you get the proper help you need, as soon as possible, and all your symptoms resolve. I can understand and feel how desperate you are now, but you know, true BELIEF can move mountains… :raised_hands::dizzy:
