Non-Eagle CT scan question

I am wondering about the large vascular structure on my right side (appears to be subclavian vein), I’m not sure if its an artifact of the contrast, but it seems to be among the “densest” objects in the scan. Does anyone know what this could be?

I remember seeing a similar scan here but I cannot find the original post.

Thanks!

It’s weird, I wouldn’t like to say, sorry!

I believe that’s your internal jugular vein @aluminum. It does look rather distended especially at the bottom. I’d say it’s your dominant IJV based on your imaging or that it’s got some occlusion at the top near your C1/skullbase where it’s not visible in your image. The fact it’s so large near your clavicle makes me wonder if there’s some compression in that area, too.

referring to this area, looks to me like the IVJ conjoins with this vein

That would be the right subclavian vein, I believe, based on the image above. Do you have any symptoms of thoracic outlet syndrome ie TOS?

yes I do have pain in that area, clumsy right hand. I can push on my right styloid from inside my mouth and i can flex it away from my C1 and i feel the pain in that area go away completely

Please forgive me for asking, but have you had a consult with a knowledgeable ES doctor yet? I’m sorry I can’t remember.

It is definitely the accumulation of contrast agent in that area that makes the structure (veins) appear so dense. I am also almost certain that the right arm was the one where the contrast was injected. I don’t know for certain if such accumulation is indicative of something, like thoracic outlet syndrome, but I would rather say it is not.

In my post, I show a similar scan of mine, which might be the one you remembered:
