I just had my surgery with Dr Osborne in LA. He is such a great doctor with a wonderful team. When he started the surgery my blood pressure would tank then it would go sky high a few times but they finally got it under control and when he opened me up he saw adhesions wrapped around my cranial nerves and jugular vein tight as can be. He had to free them and it immediately make my blood pressure goes back to normal. It was all of the same cranial nerves and veins etc that are involved in Eagles. My styloid or liagment wasn’t calcified so he didn’t take them out. He thinks it was an old small injury i got years ago to my jaw on that side. You can’t see adhesions on mri or ct so the only way is when you open it up looking for something else you find it. I’m so blessed that i was able to find out what’s wrong. I hope people see this and if it doesnt show eagles but had a jaw injury they could get help.
Hey @nbjenn, hope you’re doing fine after surgery!
That’s great that you found out what was causing it!
I’m not sure how the adhesions are created, but does that mean they cut them somehow to untrap the veins or nerves? Also that’s really interesting find, as you said they are invisible on scans so also could be a factor in compressions.
No worries, @mist. I will edit your post so it tags nbjenn & she can answer your questions.
Adhesions develop as the body tries to heal itself after an injury or surgery. Alot of women get adhesions after a c section. Mine was when I barely got hit in the jaw by some gym pulley equipment. I didn’t think much of it then. The doctor said the adhesion was wrapped around so tight around 3 cranial nerves and my jugular vein like a rubber band. I feel so blessed that he was able to help me!
I’m pleased that Dr Osborne was able to remove the adhesions @nbjenn , and hope that you have a good recovery and a successful out come. Take care of yourself
Thanks Jules
@nbjenn I hope your recovery is going well!
Thank you!
I’m so glad things went well and they were able to find the cause.
Did you have an ES diagnosis before the surgery?
Yes I was diagnosed with Eagles from the CT scan so it was so strange to hear I didn’t have Eagles on that side but that they had found adhesions when they operated and solved my problem. It’s too bad that they can’t see adhesions on mri or ct. Makes me wonder if more people have adhesions from an old injury that cause alot of the same symptoms of Eagles.
