I think that all of us in this community have had to develop persistence as an internal resource in the self-advocacy process. So today I can tell you that my dogged quest to get my insurance company to pay for my surgery has finally paid off…at least partially. I received a letter yesterday that they approved my first surgery from back in July. It will take some time to reprocess the claims and for me to get back the money I paid but it will happen! My grievance for the October surgery is apparently still under review and I remain hopeful.

Awesome to hear! I feel like a victory for one of us with insurance is a victory for us all. It often can be a maze just to drain you of willpower so extra kudos to you persisting for this long, that’s no small feat!
