First, I would like to say thank you for everyone who has posted about their experiences - this forum has been so helpful!
My 18 year old daughter is 5 days out from surgery with Dr. Costantino for right side jugular vein compression. Surgery went very well, and she is on her way to recovery. She is already noticing reduced head pressure, reduced headaches, and reduced facial swelling. I would highly recommend Dr. Costantino and his staff. They were able to answer all our questions, explain exactly why they do things the way they do them, and they also addressed our concerns about CCI. Very professional, knowledgeable, compassionate, and competent. Everything we wanted in our surgeon. Best of luck to everyone, and we will keep you posted on progress.

Brilliant news, so pleased to hear that she’s already noticing improvements! She is around the time where swelling peaks, so don’t be alarmed is she does go backwards a bit, it does seem to be quite common to have ups & downs…
Are you able to share the info you were given about CCI if that alleviated your concerns? It’s something which worries lots of members who are considering a C1 shave, so Dr C’s perspective on it will be interesting, or did he just say that post-surgery it hasn’t been an issue with his patients? I know Dr Aghayev feels that quite a bit of the C1can be safely removed without affecting stability…

Jules, thank you for the well wishes, and for all your help along the way, and yes, I am happy to create a post that summarizes what we considered, what research we did, and what ultimately informed our decision. What’s the best way to post it? I a separate post? Something labeled “Dr. Costantino surgery, C1 compression and CCI surgery considerations”? What category should I put it under? Sorry, I just am not very clear about how to use all the labels, etc. Thanks!

I agree that adding a post to the forum & deciding title & category can be confusing. I think just putting yours under the General category (no sub category) would be ideal as everyone will see it there. Also, starting it as a new post (just click on the +Add New Topic button in the upper right of this page to get started) is a good idea, & I like the title you suggested.
I’ll also be interested in what you learned from Dr. Costantino & am so happy your daughter is doing very well post op. May more time & more healing give her back the life she’s missed since becoming symptomatic at age 13!

Of course! It’s all so complex and I hope this at least helps to clarify some of the issues and inform discussions with patients and surgeons.
