I had my post op venogram done over 2 weeks ago. I do not have a following up with the ordering provider for another few weeks. From what I can gather as a lay person, I now have complete occlusion of my right internal jugular vein, lots more posterior condylar veins involving the condylar venous network as well as moderate to severe compression at C1C2 when turning to the right at the cranial/cervical view. I had this from my initial venogram. My surgeon, who is not a neurosurgeon who performed this surgery, shaved my left C1 along with a decompression. I got zero relief from that surgery and only worsening of symptoms. Be sure to always insist on post op imaging and if you feel something is not right, push for answers.
I see you deleted your reply. Honestly, I am not sure what you are speaking of.
I’m so sorry that the surgery hasn’t helped at all, you did your homework and got multiple consultations, it’s so frustrating… Can you see on the new imaging what’s compressing the right IJV, is it what’s left of the styloid or C1, or maybe soft tissue? Maybe you’ll need a stent in to keep the IJV open if there’s no obvious compression? I hope you get some answers when you have your follow up appointment, I feel for you and still pray that things will work out for you

I have not seen the imaging from the procedure. It states no meaningful compression on right ijv. However, there is total occlusion on right side and no blood is going through. I also missed that my surgery side is occluded as well. It does not state “total occlusion” though. I had a previous csf flow study done. It showed diminished flow in 2 directions including cranial cervical which is where my compression is worst. Something is causing something. It is not a leak. I have no symptoms of a leak. I just left a Dr who I see occassionally. He is calling Dr. Costantino today. He said he would hospitalize me and get a spinal tap and a cine mri. He cannot do it as hes a primary dr and they will not allow it. I did have a spinal tap prior which was normal. Something is blocking something and no one has figured it out. Yet.
I sure hope the venogram provides insight as to what’s causing your symptoms & the remaining compression(s), @Brandy. It’s so frustrating when there aren’t straightforward answers. We have had a few members who had smaller than normal jugular foramina in the skull base which was the point of compression. Maybe it’s something like that?
I’m really glad the doctor you saw today contacted Dr. Costantino directly. Please let us know what you find out. I am also praying for answers & resolution for your symptoms.
Beyond frustrating I hope they can get answers for you
