Very nervous but surgery is April 14th at 11:30

Well it’s that time and I’m at that point of really falling apart. Who of you has been there? How have you coped? I’m not sure what to expect. I keep praying and I know God has His Arms around me. I know God is guiding my surgeon’s hands. My surgeon has already said he will be praying for and with me. I trust him ( my surgeon ) with my life. But just how do you get over that feeling of butterflies. I think I’m concerned about the pain, what will I be experiencing during recovery. How do I deal with my spouse who is freaking out about this because he is dealing with his own rare disease. He has trouble understanding all of this and I have trouble trying to explain it all to him.
Oh Lord Please Guide Me!
I have two more days to toughen up and be brave enough to grow more in your Love Lord. Help me learn from these new friends here in this wonderful new family of Living With Eagles lifers. Thank You new friends. Thank you for letting me share my fears and my hopes for getting through all of this.
In The Lords name AMEN
Just a post script here…I was born during Holy Week. I lost my baby during Holy Week. Now I’m going through this during Holy Week and God brought me through it all. You all will be helping me to do this!

Oh you have been through alot, I’m glad that God has strengthened you through everything…I’ll pray for you to feel His peace, for Him to guide your surgeon’s hands, and for a successful outcome!
This has come through as a private message just to me, would you like me to make it a post on the open forum, or did you want it to be private?

Your faith will see you through, @Sandys_Mom21. You know God is faithful from your past experiences. It’s great that you also have a surgeon who is trusting God to lead him in doing your surgery. I’ll be praying for an ideal outcome for you & for your husband to have peace & calm during your surgery & recovery.

:hugs: :folded_hands:

Hi Luba, it’s Sandys _Mom21. My surgery was Monday, April 14th. Dr. DeSilva said I did very well and had very minimal blood loss. He had me stay over night because my husband was nervous about taking me home 2 hour drive away. ( He has a rare disease also. Feels uncomfortable trying to care for me.) That extra night knowing nurses were there to help me if I needed help calmed him.
Im not good with all the terminology yet but the styloid(?) Was at least 1 or more inches long that he removed. He said i will likely need more surgery on right side and down the way he will be doing left side but not sure when. I feel like i need to discuss some things about neurologists and neurosurgeons in columbus oh where he is. My neurologist where i live just blows me off (if you know what i mean by that) because he didnt diagnose this he decides its not real.

You do not have any definite date on your surgery do you? Been praying on that for you. Where will be one of the best and closest doctors and hospitals for you? My brain is still rather foggy. I tend to not always remember what I need to. Please keep me posted. Im tired. I think i need to sleep.
Blessings and Happy Easter  :hatching_chick:

Glad that the surgery is done @Sandys_Mom21 , and hope that you heal well! Take care of yourself, keep icing your neck, remember to sleep propped up if you can, and take it easy. Praying for successful surgery :folded_hands: :hugs: :bouquet:

Great to read your post, @Sandys_Mom21! I’m so glad your surgery is done & you’re home recovering. Minimal blood loss is also a good thing. Dr. DeSilva was very kind to consider your husband’s concerns & let you stay overnight in the hospital. I’m sorry you may need more surgery on the right side but am not surprised you’ll need to have the left styloid shortened as well.

Most doctors are willing to shorten the second styloid about 3 months after the first surgery, but if you want to wait longer then that’s ok, too. I had my second surgery 9 months after my first one.

I wish you a Happy Easter, too! :sparkling_heart: :hugs:

Luba, I’m so glad you finally found my message. I think  my phone may have a rare disease also. It has been behaving strangely. For 2 days I could send any messages by email. Then because of my brain fog I had trouble figuring out how to send it any other way. I have a suspicion I may have a hard time trying to send this too.

Because I know my Dr. is Christian I painted a small painting of an Eagle and put a message on the back for him. It was about how he (because he is making the Eagle take flight and go away and relieving us from our pain like Jesus does)..and Jesus lifted us up on Eagle’s :eagle: wings. Do you know that song? He had tears glistening in his eyes. He really appreciated it and said that song is one of his favorites. The next morning he told me he shared it with his daughter and she loved it too and commented that No one had ever done that for him before. Luba, I really love hearing from you. Do you have family? You must share a little about them sometime if you feel comfortable doing so. You need not use their real names. One day I hope I learn how to communicate with this better.
Many beautiful blessings :raising_hands: for a very Happy Easter! :rabbit::hatching_chick::butterfly::tulip::hyacinth:

@Sandys_Mom21 , that was a lovely idea, doing the painting as a thank you. So reassuring when God places us in the hands of Christian doctors :folded_hands: :hugs:

@Sandys_Mom21 & @Luba - It’s best to share more personal information by a private message to each other. You can do that by either of you clicking on the screen name or avatar for the other person which is above a post she has made. That takes you to a page where you can write to each other in private, & it won’t show up on the forum. You can tell the message is private not public because there will be a picture of a small gray envelope in the upper left of the page.
