A&D waiting times in the US

Just wondering, how long would you approximately need to wait to see an emergency doctor in the States since the moment you entered the hospital?

Highly variable. When I’ve gone in for something that’s not life threatening, including the worst migraine ever, I was probably seen by a doctor within the hour. But that was a slow week day in a suburban hospital. I’ve also waited well over 4 hours in an urban hospital. And probably around 4 hours in a crowded children’s hospital with my daughter.

That said, you should be triaged within a very short period of time so that they can determine the urgency for you. I hope that helps.

6-8 hours if it’s not chest pain and shortness of breath
