Bilateral styloidectomy and C1 shave decompression

Hi everyone. I’m looking for someone who has had bilateral styloidectomy AND bilateral C1 transverse-process shaving/resection for bilateral internal jugular vein compression, preferably both sides during the same operation.

I’ve found lots of stories about bilateral styloidectomy, but very few about the full bilateral styloid + C1 decompression procedure.

I’m due to have this procedure considered/performed and I’m feeling quite frightened about the bilateral aspect. I’d really appreciate the opportunity to privately speak with someone who has actually been through the same operation — particularly about the hospital stay, swallowing, pain, neck movement, recovery, and how they felt several months afterwards.

I’m not looking for medical advice or to influence anyone’s decision. I just want to hear honestly from someone who has been through the same thing.

If you’ve had this exact procedure and would be comfortable having a private chat, please DM me or comment here. Thank you

@Perla wrote this post after her surgery which might be helpful & you could send her a private message if you want to ask anything else:

Everything you need to know about Dr. Khamran Aghayev - General - Living with Eagle

And this was her post when she was considering the surgery, there’s some info there which might be useful & also links to other relevant discussions:

How good is Dr. Khamran Agayev? - General - Living with Eagle

From reading others’ posts on here, it does sound for some quite a tough surgery to have done, and some have mentioned that pain relief isn’t very forthcoming so they’ve had to ask for more (for those who’ve had surgery with Dr Aghayev in Turkey), but quite a few members have had good results. I hope you get reassurance/ answers to the questions you have :hugs:

I’ve had bilateral styloidectomies AND resection of both C1 transverse processes, but surgeries were done 4 months apart. I can’t imagine having both sides done on the same surgery date. If you would like to speak with me about it, feel free to message me dircetly.
