Hello everyone, I’m new to the forum. I am 20 years old on the night of July 4, 2022, the first symptoms of vascular eagle syndrome occurred all the doctors said it was just migraine or that I was somatizing, once I was diagnosed with eagle syndrome with jugular compression. some members of the Italian forum of eagle syndrome noticed that I had a compression of the c1 too. In Italy the doctors all refused to operate on me only a few wanted me just to operate on a styloidectomy, telling me that c1 shave was a dangerous procedure and a small lesion to the vertebral artery was enough to kill me. my mother took me to Dr. Khamran Agayev in Turkey who offered to operate on me by doing styloedectomy, c1 shave, cauterization of the occipital artery and myotomy of the digastric muscle. bilateral surgery. I am afraid, especially after what doctors told me in Italy and especially not knowing how good Dr. Aghayev is. Has anyone already done these operations? In the case of how did you find yourself? especially you have been told that c1 shave is a high-risk operation?
P.S. Sorry for my terrible English, I am Italian and I am not used to speaking and writing in English. The moderator was very kind to this question and answered me immediately, but I prefer to repeat it to hear personal opinions.
Hi, My mom had surgery with Dr. Khamran Agayev a few weeks ago. He was very warm, attentive, and explained everything clearly. He seemed confident and sure about the procedure, which really gave us a lot of trust. In our case, it was a vascular Eagle syndrome, and he explained that he has extensive experience with such cases. He told us that the risk was very low, and that he had successfully performed many similar operations before. The surgery was successful — the styloids on both sides were removed and the C1 bone was shaved to relieve the compression.
The symptoms are still continuing for now, likely because the nerves need time to heal. Dr. Kamran mentioned that this healing process can take several months. Overall, we’re very grateful for his professionalism, calm attitude, and the confidence he gave us throughout the process.
Rest assured you are in competant hands. My son had bilateral jugular vein decompression surgery. He was operated on by Dr Kamran Aghayev 2 weeks ago at the Acibadem University Hosipital, Atakent, Istanbul. The operation went well.
The operation consisted of bilateral styloidectomy, bilateral removal of the transverse process of C1 and removal of distally calcified stylohyoid ligaments. To allow space for the internal jugulars to expand and to effectively take over from an extremely tortuous and extremely developed system of collateral veinous drainage into the vertebral plexus, Dr Kamran also performed myectomy of the posterior belly of the digastric muscle as well as two other smaller muscles and partial resection of a 4th muscle.
Dr Kamran took the time to thoroughly explain the findings on the CT scan. This was aided by his 3D rendering of the CT scan which made it easier for my son and I to visualise and understand the importance and necessity for the operation.
All his personal staff (driver, medical assistant and receptionists) as well as all the hospital staff at Acibadem University Hospital were kind, polite, helpful and respectful.
My son was up walking 24 hours after the operation, left the hospital on the 3rd day after the operation and flew back home to France on the 7th day after the operation. He has already noticed a reduction in head pressure; hoping that all his other symptoms slowly resolve over the following months.

Hi @Emerald ,
You gave me very important information and I am glad to hear that Dr. Kamran is part of the Acibadem team, because they have a representative office in my country.
I have to do some more steps to convince my health care of the need for an operation that they cannot perform and it will be easier when I get confirmation from Acibadem.
Their representative office offers complete care for transportation, patient care and interpreters.
