Dr. Chhetri no longer seeing Eagles syndrome patients

Good morning to everyone. I just got off the phone with Dr. Dinesh Chhetri’s office. I was told he no longer sees Eagles syndrome patients! I was so very sad. Can someone recommend a doc in the SoCal area for me to look into seeing please? Thank you.

Thank you for that info, I’ll update the list, so frustrating that we seem to lose doctors faster than we gain them! Although we have a note by his name that he does hyoid bone surgery, so I wonder if he still does that?
Dr Samji is very experienced & has done lots of successful surgeries, 'Dr Hussein Samji, Camino ENT Clinic, San Jose 408- 227- 6300 Camino Ear, Nose & Throat Clinic (one of the most experienced ES surgeons in the US, does external surgery.) Contact his medical assistant Yerelin@caminoent.com for a faster response.
Dr. Ryan Osborne - Los Angeles ENT Doctors ENT Specialists Surgeons Cedars Sinai Medical - he’s also done quite a few surgeries.
Here’s a link to the doctors list if you want to look for anyone else:

I hope that you can find someone to help you!

@Jules gave you the two best options in CA, @Serenitea, however, I think Dr. Samji has a new medical assistant because Yerelin is off on maternity leave. I don’t know who the new person is so it’s probably best to call his office if you can travel to San Jose. I know that’s not very close to where you live if you’re in SoCal.

I just saw Dr.Chhetri yesterday and am in the process of scheduling my surgery for right styloidectomy. Are we sure he’s no longer seeing ES patients? I did book 5 months prior to yesterday as that was the soonest they could get me in. Maybe they are taking a break so they can catch up?

That’s very interesting. I called the number I found for him online and the receptionist said he was no longer seeing ES patients. I wonder if they meant for a time period? I may try again just to see if I can get another response. Would you mind sending me the number you have for him?
Thanks!

I just Googled Dr. Chhetri. Here is the link to his current website. I’ll double check that the information matches what’s on our Doctors List.

Update: I was able to book surgery for February! Just waiting on insurance approval. Dr.Chhetris medical assistant did say they were having to turn patients away in a case by case basis due to over 6 month wait times and people calling from all over the world for eagles and hyoid bone syndromes. They choose patients that the dr feels will have the best outcome based on medical history, symptoms and CT scans.

Thank you for the update @AKW111. What you were told makes sense. I’m glad you “qualified” for surgery w/ Dr. Chhetri & hope yoiur surgery goes very well. Please keep us updated.

I’m so glad you got your surgery date. Sending you best wishes.
Thanks for the info on Dr. Chhetri’a office.
I’m kind of surprised that they just turned me away, since they’re basing their decisions on a case by case basis and they didn’t even ask me about my history or to view scans, etc. they just asked me why I wanted to see Dr. Chhetri and I said Eagle Syndrome and then I was told he no longer sees Eagles patients. I may have to try again and see if they can’t have more of a discussion with me about my situation.

That’s a good plan, @Serenitea. It’s true that “the squeaky wheel gets the grease”. If they shut you down a second time, call them on it & let them know you have a “friend” who is having ES surgery w/ Dr. Chhetri in Feb so you know he’s still doing the surgery. This is part of self-advocacy.
