hi are you considering surgery elsewhere?
You can arrange a consultation with Dr. Kamran Aghayev by submitting a request through his website, after which he contacts you via WhatsApp to send him your scans and medical reports.
I packed my MRI and CT scans into a zip archive, uploaded it to OneDrive, and shared the link wia WhatsApp.
He responded with his opinion very quickly, and you can schedule an online consultation if you wish.
I believe there is no charge unless you specifically request a written report from him.
Since I don’t speak English, I didn’t want an online consultation, and I also didn’t need detailed explanations. So I asked via messages about the price and whether he could do the procedure one side, after recovery second side, which he confirmed he could, although he recommends doing both sides at once.
I haven’t scheduled the surgery, but he told me that I’m welcome if I decide to go ahead with it.
@tesla001 - You had me fooled! I was thinking your English is impeccable! I assume since you said you don’t speak English, you use an online translator to put your posts into English. Thank you for doing that!
Also, thank you for the information about Dr. Aghayev. Very helpful.
What language do you speak?![]()
Bosnian/ Serbian/ Croatian
@tesla001 Cao brate
Jel si uspeo sa operacijom? (Have you done the surgery?)
Translation:
Hi bro
Have you done the surgery?
@eggisnotaplant Pozdrav,
In case anyone else wants to keep up with @tesla001 & @eggisnotaplant 's conversation:
I have not undergone surgery due to additional anatomical disorders in the neck, so I am cautious that such a procedure could cause further complications. For now, with a lot of effort and conservative methods, I can cope with the symptoms, so if the condition becomes unbearable, then surgery will be inevitable. Whatever you want to know, feel free to ask me privately or publicly!
Here you can read my latest update on that topic, and a detailed introduction is at the top of the thread.
Hello. May I ask how much was the quote for surgery? Was it one side or both sides?
I think the cost for surgery w/ Dr. Aghayev is $6-7K USD, but it’s been a while since anyone posted that information. You can contact Dr. Aghayev’s office to ask. It seems they are very open to sharing information & are quite friendly to patients who contact them.
Just to add that Dr Aghayev usually does bilateral surgery…
Hello! I had a consultation with Dr. Aghayev. He does not believe I have Eagle. He thinks it’s TOS.
Dr. Liu had shown me where my styloids are only slightly elongated (one more than the other), but they still only measure about 2.5cm, and there’s no signs of vascular compression… yet I’m having many, many symptoms of vascular compression. After thorough questioning, they believe I do have some kind of vascular compression going on. He just thinks it’s TOS instead of Eagle.
I’m supposed to get some more imaging done. Then they are going to work up a quote for me. I’m curious approximately how much I might be looking at, though, so I might have a browse around to see if anyone talks about it (I’ve heard Eagle and TOS can be overlapping).
That’s interesting, and the two conditions do overlap with symptoms I think from what other members have said… I hope that the imaging you’re having confirms what’s going on, please let us know how you get on ![]()
Hello,
I’ve had a recent review with Dr Kamran,
He told me it’s US$24,000 for bilateral and $US12,000 for unilateral.
This seems like a bit of a jump from what other people are saying.
I guess everything is costing more at the moment! Will you go ahead with him @Bronte , or do you have other options?
The price to me is still quite cheap for this type of surgery - though I am wondering if he is charging me way more than others? ![]()
Yes it’s, either him or Dr Axon. The 800 pound consultation for Dr Axon seems a little ridiculous.
I am waiting for Mr Bassam (Dr Kamran assistant) to respond back to me with the documents showing the price and a letter saying I need the surgery so I can access my super. He said it would be ready a week ago and didn’t respond to my last message, are they known to be delayed with their responses at times?
Others have mentioned that Mr Axon’s consultation is more… I think usually Dr Aghayev’s assistant is pretty efficient from what others have said, although I think all the VES doctors are getting busier as there’s so few of them, so maybe chase this up again?
The prices for Dr. Aghayev that have been quoted, including my recollection could be from a year or more ago. As prices continue to escalate, even for doctors to do surgery, it’s not surprising Dr. A’s price is higher now & does seem very reasonable considering that the price he gives is all-inclusive i.e. it the costs of the OR, anesthesiologist, Dr. A & any other assistants needed. In the US, doctors often charge $10-20K just for the main surgeon. The OR, a neurosurgeon, anesthesiologist, etc. are added on above those prices.
Yes, I would expect Dr Kamran to go up in price, but a ~400% increase in a year or so I would still question, no?
Yes, Dr Axon price for surgery is very reasonable. His price of 800 pounds for a chat ($1600 Australian) is ludicrous. Especially if there’s a good chance he will want to do a lumbar puncture first which I am not willing to do. No surgeon is this field charges anywhere near that price for a consult, even the pricey American ones.
@Bronte - As @Jules said, we don’t believe Dr. Axon routinely requires a lumbar puncture for a patient to determine whether or not he’d do IJV decompression for him/her.
I also think I waaaay under-quoted what his surgical charge is. I searched for & found a post that has a more accurate cost estimate. The post is from 2024 & the information is in the first post in the discussion.
