international patients for appointment with Dr. Dewan Karuna

Hello,

Does anyone have a contact to have a telemedicine appointment with Dr. Dewan Karuna for suspected hyoid bone syndrome? I’ve been trying to contact her for over a month through Amy, her secretary, and she’s no longer responding to my emails. What can I do? It’s quite urgent… In France, no one specializes in this hyoid bone syndrome.

We have heard from people in the US that getting an appointment w/ Dr. Dewan can take some effort because communication with her office isn’t good. Did Amy give you any indication of how long it might be before you could be scheduled for a consult with Dr. Dewan? For our US members, she requires an initial consult to be in person, but I don’t know if she has that policy for international patients.

Another doctor you can try is Dr. Chhetri at UCLA Medical Center in California. He also does hyoid bone surgeries. I’m sorry he’s much farther away but the UCLA Medical System might have more efficient communication.

I don’t know if you’ve seen @TML’s post from today but it might be helpful for you:

in fact she answers every other email.. since the beginning of August I’ve been trying to contact her, it’s always the same thing, at first she confused me with another patient by telling me that she already had my scans while I never sent anything nor ever set foot in the USA.. when I explained to her that it was a mistake that she was mistaken with another person she never answered me by email again. I sent an email with my husband’s she replied to the first email where we asked to have telemedicine, we sent some images of the scan as well as a link with the scan in dicom, I don’t even know if she clicked on the link.. and she said that a certain allyssia will contact us again it’s been a few days and nothing. We sent another email to find out if it is necessary to have a scan with injection or is the standard enough and she no longer answers…

Some exercises mentioned here are not good to do with craniocervical instability as well..

@Calista21269 - I’m sorry for the trouble you’ve had communicating w/ Dr. Dewan. Very frustrating, but it is promising that you were told Allyssia would contact you. You may need to wait a week or more to hear from her. If you haven’t heard anything by two weeks, please contact the office again. It’s frustrating that more doctors offices are resorting to email for conversations with patients rather than phone calls. I personally think hearing a real human voice on the other end of the phone is more reassuring that I’m being heard than by sending emails back & forth.

Please keep us updated as to whether you hear back from Dr. Dewan’s office or not. I wish there was something we could do to help but I think all we can do is encourage you not to give up until you get an appointment for a telehealth consult.
