Ok to start blood thinner again after decompression

I’m 8 days post op left decompression with Hepworth. Struggling with all the symptoms. I have a telehealth with him tomorrow. Wonder if steroids would help, but I also have blood thinners at home and wondered if that would help get me through? Bad idea or worth a shot?

It’s worth asking Dr Hepworth tomorrow, I’m glad you have a telehealth appointment with him tomorrow, and I hope that you can talk over your worries with him and that he’ll be able to reassure you that it’s still early days :hugs:

Ugh. I’m a teary mess. I’ve done these surgeries so much and have done the wait without any results. My hope meter is negative. I hope you are right Jules, thanks for being kind to me.

I wish I could give you a definite answer that in so many weeks it would resolve but we’re all different, all heal differently & our ES symptoms & anatomy aren’t the same, but you are in the best hands with Dr Hepworth :hugs:

@JSwing - We’ve had several other members who went back on blood thinners during healing after vascular decompression surgeries w/ Dr. Hepworth. It really seems to ease the recovery discomfort for them. One I can think of is @Blossom. I’d send a link to her post about it but am on my cell phone & can’t easily research & add it to this post. You can search for her posts using the magnifying glass search tool. Please don’t despair. Give your body the benefit of the doubt as it works hard to heal. Remember post op swelling is your body’s way of cushioning & protecting the area injured by surgery, & that “cushion” presses on surrounding tissues causing pain which also serves to keep you down physically so your body can use its energy for healing & not pushing forward with a busy life.
