Positivity Please 🤍

Can everyone just please send some Positivity my way…

Today is the day that I’ve been selfishly dreading, but patiently awaiting for my Daughter…

She has had Strep for more than a Year that is just non reactive to any form of Antibiotic and today they are removing her Tonsils…

I KNOW there is no solid proof that this isn’t Hereditary, but my Mama heart is just terrified for her!! I DO NOT want her to go through what I have, and currently am going through!!!

I’ll be praying for her full recovery. Strep is a nasty bug. Please let us know how her surgery goes. So tough for the two of you to be suffering so much at the same time.

Wishing & praying for peace for your mama’s heart, too.

:hugs:

Thank you, EVERYONE!! My Sweet Daughter is such a Trooper!! She is doing great!! They gave her stronger Pain Medication since her 18th Birthday was the day before her Surgery and she isnt technically a “Pediatric Patient” but shes been doing great with Alternating Motrin and Tylenol and has pretty much been only using that “as needed” and only really has pain when swallowing and misses real food…

When the DR removed her Tonsils he said they were “Huge, Squishy, and full of Stones…”

My poor Girl has had Stones SO LARGE come from her Tonsils that Im surprised they didnt choke her!!

She is doing great though!! Thank you again for the well wishes!!

Sounds like she had a really nasty tonsil situation!! This will be a fresh start for her, @MamaBear6, just like your surgery will give you a fresh start that the first two didn’t. I’m praying for that!! :pray:t3::sparkling_heart:

Wow. MamaBear!
I am glad she is trooping thru it. My daughter too has big tonsil stones however they don’t want to take the tonsils out. She isn’t having any infections though like your daughter. I had alot of strep myself when I was young, had big tonsil stones and they were removed at age 17. I remember how painful it was. I hope this will resolve some of her issues now. I down think I have ever had strep again.

Interestingly though, last fall my son had to be admitted to the hospital for 1 week with non-A strep. It took almost a week and me calling to get those results. This is when I learned that all the rapid strep tests are only for Strep A so if you have another form of strep (and there are several), it has to be cultured. Finally on the 2nd ER visit and me pushing, they ran other labs and did CT scan of throat. They found him to have ZERO white blood cells and a very swollen throat among other things. It took 4 days of IV antibiotics to nudge those WBC starting to go up. I cannot imagine your daughter went a year with that kind of antibiotic resistance And that she is still alive. It must have been a horrible year!

In the end, my son had severe sepsis (which they did not tell me), strep and after a few days in hospital found bacterial pneumonia too. All this started with the strep being untreated. He had his tonsils out at age 3. I was able to get them to bring in an ENT for a consult. He was a godsend. He showed us the CT scan and mentioned when did he break his nose? We are not aware of any incident he broke his nose so it was very odd. One side of his nose was so closed up, he could not get air thru it. Weeks later we went to see him to follow up. He had surgery to fix it however they found a hole in the bottom of the other sinus which was patched and found little air flow going thru that side as well. We would never have found any of this had he not been hospitalized and a sharp ENT picked it up on CT scan.

wishing your daughter good healing and hope your stress levels are coming down now that she has successfully pulled thru it. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

WOW! @Snapple2020 - What an ordeal for your son. His story is a good illustration of “seemingly bad things can happen for a reason.” I’m so glad he survived his illnesses, too!

You and your daughter are in my thoughts! I know this was 8 days ago - how are things going? How is she recovering? I hope that you aren’t too stressed, as well. I strongly feel that (at least in my experience) it’s far more stressful to see a loved one in pain, recovering from surgery and miserable than it is to be the one going through it first hand. Wishing you both well!
