Searching for surgeon asap in the Salt Lake City or Denver areas. My local ENT only does intramural surgery and due to severe TMJ limiting mouth opening, I need the extraoral surgery. My pain level is off the charts. Anyone.....help?

I did some research and made a call to the University of Utah Medical Center in search of an ENT specialist who had experience with ES. I was given the name of Dr. Marshall E. Smith. I have not pursued anything with him so I don’t know anything about him other than what they told me and his bio. See below.

Dr. Marshall Smith is a professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He is a board certified otolaryngologist and the medical director of the Voice Disorders Center. He completed his residency in Otolaryngology at UCLA and a fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology in Cincinnati. He is an NIH funded investigator and participates in research on various voice disorders. He provides evaluation, medical and surgical care of the voice. He is the medical director of our multidisciplinary team dedicated to comprehensive care of the larynx.

For what it is worth, I live on the East Coast and flew to Salt Lake City specifically for Dr. Smith. I did not have Eagle but rather an injury from a chokehold that required the removal of part of my thyroid Cartledge. I have posted elsewhere about it on here already.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Smith. If he can help you with your problem I would have complete confidence in his surgical abilities. He helped me with many other surgeons could not.

Hello bkerea66…hav you gone to SLC to see Dr Smith yet??? I would be very interested in knowing your experience as I am searching for someone to do my ES surgery asap. Thanks

I have not and do not plan to have surgery. My symptoms are not as constant or severe as many here so I am not going to pursue a surgical remedy unless things get worse. Wish you well.
