Hello, can anyone help me see if the styloids can be seen here? I know it’s bad imaging, and maybe they’re not there at all..
I’m so nervous about my CT. Never in my life have I hoped more for a diagnosis
pls look in comments

I am not good at reading X-rays but I wanted to say welcome to the forum! I hope your ct scan goes well, they do it very quickly and I was surprised I wasn’t in head first for very long at all.
@Martheho - Welcome to our forum! I’m sorry but I don’t see your styloids in either picture. Do you have any other x-ray pictures you can post?
Here’s a few more. I’m sorry the imagine is very bad. The photos printed are small and a part of a bigger posture report
And also, it’s taken from my left side. Not my right where I have most problems ![]()
I’m not able to label images I’m afraid, but there’s calcifications each side going to the jaw bone/ mandible in this image:
@Martheho - I’ve annotated the image that @Jules commented on, but am very unsure if what I’ve marked are your styloids/calcified stylohyoid ligaments or just artifacts in your x-ray. They’re in approximately the right place to be elongated styloids/calcified s-h ligaments.
I hope you’re able to get a CT scan soon so you have a better idea of what the situation is in your neck.
Thank you so much for taking the time too look at my photos. Today I went for a panoramic X-ray, and I guess I’m not a part of the eagle-gang.. I cant even see my stylhoids. But if anyone of you can tell me otherwise, or just want to analyze - feel free.
It may be that they don’t show very well on this image, I can’t remember who’s it was but one of our members had a neck x-ray & you couldn’t see the styloids at all, but on their CT they were huge! But also the width of the styloids and the angle of the styloids can cause symptoms too… There are other things which could cause your symptoms but they are very typical of ES, so it’s worth getting a CT scan done if you can get a referral for that?
I agree w/ @Jules, that I can’t see your styloids either, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have ES. You do have very nice teeth, though!
I found the CD with my chirpractic x-rays. Im very aware that these are not enough for neither diagnosing or locating the styloid process. My symptoms also remain on the right side (and the sided pictures are taken from left unfortunately).
Still waiting for my CT-scan. If anyone can see something (or not) I would be very grateful.
I can’t see the styloids on the second image, but in both it looks like there could be some calcification to the jaw; occasionally the stylo-mandibular ligament can get calcified, or it could be very elongated styloids… In the 2nd & 4th images, your hyoid bone processes look quite hooked upwards and are pointy too, which can cause symptoms.
I think you might have to wait for your CT though to be sure…
Thank you @Jules, I really appreciate you for taking you time to look at the images. I’m going to a chiropractor in two days, he will take a picture of me doing an excerise, i will ask him to take it from the right side. Hopefully I will get my CT soon
@Martheho - I agree with what @Jules told you.
Good idea to get an updated x-ray on the right when you see your chiropractor. You can even ask if (s)he sees your styloid on the right.
I hope you can get your CT soon, too!
@Martheho your neck seems to be very straight, lacking the normal curvature. Maybe it’s just the way they took the X-ray?
Good observation, @Chrickychricky. I’m glad you caught that.
