If anyone has information about surgeons who have experience of Eagles Syndrome please contact me. I live in Canberra Australia by the way. I have been diagnosed this week and am contacting Ear, Nose Throat Specialists but I think most will have no experience. There are very few to contact anyway! The neurologist who made the final confirmation (pretty obvious on the CT scan that both long styloids have carotid artery wrapped around them) had only seen one other Eagle Syndrome in the past five years. Thanks.
I have no idea of distances in Australia, being from the UK, but have you seen the discussion prolotherapy and surgery booked in Melbourne? Emipie has just had surgery there- is that too far for you? Good luck!
Thanks Jules. Distance is an issue here. I am phoning doctors in Canberra plus Dr Salmon in Newcastle (New South Wales), several hours drive away. I will try further afield in Melbourne if no luck with these.

Hi Flora, I am from Geelong and I am travelling to Melbourne this Tuesday afternoon to visit an ENT surgeon that has operated on Eagle syndrome, will keep you posted with my progress if that helps :) cheers JO
Hey, it's been a while. I'm booked for my second surgery finally at September 8th with Dr. Roy Nicholson here in geelong. If you're interested Damjo he's done the left side for me successfully and has done the surgery with other people in the past.
Unfortunately I have been to Roy and wasn't impressed at all. He was the one that diagnosed me and chose not to help now me. I m am under a wonderful ENT surgeon in Melbourne that has gone over and above to helping me . :)
Wish you all the luck, and hope you recover quickly :)
I just moved from Canberra to the coast, I have ossification of the stylohyoid ligaments bilaterally, along with a fractured styloid process which was caused by a heavy door falling onto the back of my head and back/shoulder, this also dislocated my left jaw which after 6 yrs I had a 3D cone scan that showed my jaw was dislocated and the stylohyoid problems, I was sent for surgery two later for a double jaw and disc manipulation. I then seen two ENT in Canberra Dr Makeham and Dr Chapman they said they would both operate and would be a first for them and they would both do it as never seen anything like it before so they sent me to another specialist in Sydney Dr Gallagher who said all my pain was from my neck who he than sent me to a neurologist Dr Tomlinson who sent me for injection into my neck and occipital which has helped but has not helped with pain under my jaw just under my ear an in my throat with swallowing difficulties and still in neck and down my shoulder/blade. Going to see another Professor in Syd soon hopefully he will have some help for me. Been 9 yrs since injury. Would like to know more about your problems and hope not suffering to much.
